Bookseller Notes

Marchand, a lawyer, suffered from Voltairomania. He produced a number of parodies, this being one of them. The play is prefixed by a letter addressed to Voltaire, begging him to cast an eye over it.Barbier attributes to Marchand; Hoefer cites Barbier and adds: cette pice est due, suivant l'abb de La Porte, la collaboration de Meyzieu et de Ducoin. The lower wrapper bears the imprint of La Feuille Villageoise, rue du Thtre de l'galit: Thtre de l'galit was the name bestowed upon l'Odon in 1794.
