This volume looks at the various elements which comprise the French population. It covers four broad areas: the demographic situation and the debate on "natalisme"; the family in France, with special emphasis on one-parent families; social groupings, and the particular situation of the "classes moyens"; and problems of marginality and exclusion, ranging from "la nouvelle pauvrete" to the integration of "les beurs".
Founded in 1904, MUP is the third largest University Press in England and publishes monographs and textbooks by authors from all over the world.
