This index aims to aid every literature cataloger, reference specialist and library patron as a guide to current Library of Congress classification of literary authors.;Based on English and American (PR and PS) schedules and their updates, 1000s of additional authors gleaned from LC usage have been checked on LC's own on-line name authority file and given in their established AACR2 form. Each name can be accessed in two ways: alphabetically by surname and in LC author number arrangement.;This work indexes over 12,000 entries from data gathered from Library of Congress authority, schedules and common practice. The disk version is available for IBM/MS-DOS computers, allowing the cataloger to import the comma delimited files into any database manager, such as dBase and PC File, so that changes and updates can be done locally. It will save costly on-line searching, and provide access to data previously unavailable to libraries without on-line capabilities.
