Publisher's Synopsis
Since the early pioneering work, the field of Langmuir-Blodgett films has developed steadily until the last decade, during which it has literally soared. This is due to the use of the Langmuir-Blodgett method as a molecular ordering tool in, among others, non-linear optics, organic conductors, biology, solid-state chemistry and physics, thermodynamics, magnetism and electronics. Whilst many of the invited talks included in this volume have been chosen from fields other than Langmuir-Blodgett films, they are still concerning the Langmuir-Blodgett method. This volume attests to the significant progress that has been made in this field, as well as reporting on the challenging problems that still remain to be solved.
