Publisher's Synopsis

This calendar features some of the original illustrations and journal extracts from "Lady Cottington's Pressed Fairy Book". It includes all the fairy anniversaries, celebrations and holidays that feature in the fairy year - from Wand Dedication Day and Day of the Pin-Hiding and Button-Losing to the Festival of the Knee-Knockers and the Smartest Leprechaun Eisteddfod.;It is a little-known fact that when all self-respecting Victorian young ladies were pressing flowers, Lady Angelica Cottington was pressing fairies. Many people will remember the photograhs taken by two young Victorian girls purporting to have captured fairies on film, but little has been heard of the girls since. One of those girls was Cottington, who continued her quest to prove the existence of fairies into her old age. "Lady Cottington's Pressed Fairy Book" was the journal of those years and, alongside her handwritten entries, physic impressions of the fairies were squashed onto the pages - some of which have been reproduced anew in this calendar.
