This is an introduction to the theory and practice of labour relations. Although based predominantly on the UK experience it raises and discusses general principles at a level which newcomers to the subject should understand. Labour relations have undergone considerable change in recent years. The sources of these changes are discussed in a way which also provides the reader with insights into the process of reform of trade unions. New labour relations practices, often characterized as Japanization, are also analyzed as well as the impact of international changes.
