Finally, attention may be called to the fact that in the earlier pharmacological work the use of apparatus is re duced to a minimum, the effect of this being to train the student's powers of observation. The making of accurate protocols of the experiments in the laboratory should be emphasized as much as the making of good clinical notes in the hospital, and the former may well serve as a train ing for the latter.
