An elegant edition - the fifth book from the press.Lily Antrobus, daughter of Hugh Lindsay Antrobus, a Director or Coutts, was an active member of the London Automobile Club and avid collector of English pottery (much of her collection now in the V & A). Her bookplate was designed and engraved by Charles William Sherborn, a leading figure in the field.

ONE OF 224 COPIES printed on Arnold's handmade paper, general title page with circular geese illustration, highly decorative double-page first tale title with pale green highlights and metallic gold ground, second tale full-page illustration, press device on final limitation page and numerous decorated initials, all designed by Lucien Pissarro and wood-engraved by Lucien and Esther Pissarro, pp. [vi], 39, [i], 8vo, original quarter pale blue boards, with palm-tree patterned paper covers, front cover lettered in gilt, backstrip with two gilt ornaments, slightly toned, as are the endpapers, as usual, untrimmed, a few small spots on rear board, two decorative bookplates, one contemporary (Lily Antrobus), one modern, very good
