Publisher's Synopsis
The essays contained in the book provide a new interpretation of the past of the convent of San Vivaldo in Valdelsa (Florence), with teories based on the most recent historical, archeological and documentary research, and on the architectural analysis as well as the latest restorations on the sculptural and decorative apparatus. Particular emphasis is given to the historical and religious value attributed to the practice and tradition of indulgences, relating to the events that shook Europe during the first twenty years of the sixteenth century.
