Publisher's Synopsis
There are giants in the world, and they live in the ocean as whales. But how did they get there? A long time ago, in the early days of the earth, four hungry, frightening giants eat all the time and act like spoiled babies when they don't get their favorite food, fish. Their king is King Blue, and he and the others force the people of the land to feed them constantly to avoid getting eaten themselves. Among the people is a small, smart boy named Bi-Ba-Ray. He wants to go to school and play and work for his own people rather than the giants. He wants his family to be able to live their own lives instead of fishing for the giants all the time. So Bi-Ba-Ray comes up with a plan-a thousand-day feast for the giants that will transform the lives of both the people and the giants forever. This children's story presents a fairy tale about a young boy bravely planning to free his people from giants, thus explaining how whales came to live in the sea.
