Publisher's Synopsis
On August 8, 2005 in the small town of Wilcox, North Carolina, a well-respected husband and wife are found dead in their home. Police believe this is a classic case of murder/suicide. Lead Detective MacArthur Nowlin doesn't agree. He is convinced it is a professional hit made to look like a murder/suicide. The same evening in a secluded cabin on the outskirts of town, a local woman is viciously attacked, raped, and stabbed over 15 times. Who was she meeting that night? Is it possible that Detective MacArthur Nowlin is connected to this gruesome murder? His history of failed relationships with women only adds to the speculation of his guilt. Or, is he being framed? The investigation, arrests, and eventually the trial reveal facts that leaves everyone connected to these two cases in disbelief. Somewhere between deceit and murder exist secrets so shocking, no one could have predicted the outcome.
