Publisher's Synopsis
This volume combines statistical data and complementary qualitative information providing the background necessary to understand the diversity of the organization and functioning of educational systems. The report is in two parts. Basic data on the different levels of education are presented in the chapters in the first section. The second, thematic part is devoted to an analysis of the teaching profession. Time series have been included to facilitate the analysis of trends in the development of education in Europe, for example the increase of attendance at educational institutions at nursery and higher education level over the past 30 years.
