Supplements to the Index Kewensis (1893-5) have so far been issued for five-yearly periods. This is the first of a new series of annual supplements to the Index that will meet the need for more up-to-date information. It includes, as for the five-yearly supplements, information on new and changed names of seed-bearing plants at the level of family and below. Entries are also given in an appendix for ferns and fern allies that have not previously been included in the Index Kewensis .
