Like the first disc in this package, this new disc is intended to introduce the general principles of sample handling and fault recognition and then allow the user to practise and test his understanding in a series of interactive exercises.;The main menu options are: SAMPLE HANDLING: Descriptive statements dealing with cells, window materials, the preparation of solid, liquid and gas samples; DISPLAY EXAMPLE SPECTRA: Twenty-eight spectra are stored on the disc containing identity, faults with comments. Up to four spectra may be viewed simultaneously for comparison purposes; SELF-ASSESSMENT EXERCISES ON MULLING AGENTS, SOLVENTS AND CELL WINDOW MATERIALS: A table displays spectral characteristics of twelve mulling agents, solvents and cell window materials in a random sequence. The user is directed to identify them in any order by selection. Incorrect choices prompt a retry or correct answer option. A running score allows performance to be measured; SELF-ASSESSMENT EXERCISES IN SPECTRAL IDENTIFICATION AND FAULT RECOGNITION: A random selection from the twenty-eight spectra in option two, is displayed. The user selects identify and faults - and is scored. Incorrect choices prompt the correct answers and the opportunity to view the spectra which were confused with the correct result.
