Publisher's Synopsis
Besides designing buildings, the celebrated Japanese architect Kazuo Shinohara (1925-2006) also travelled extensively, always with a camera in hand. Presented here is a selection of his rarely seen colour slides that were primarily intended for personal use. The majority are quick snapshots taken while casually moving through cities - street scenes, impressions of the cityscape, and monumental buildings - in order to record details, unusual perspectives, and sometimes merely oddities. Selected from five significant overseas journeys Shinohara made between 1972 and 1985, the pictures constitute the diary of a seasoned architect.
