Publisher's Synopsis
"Forty-six unnamed orphans traveled from New York City to Hamilton County, Iowa in the fall of 1890 escorted by the Children's Aid Society. In the early 1900s this transfer of children would be called the Orphan Train Movement, but in the 1800s it was called out-placement. Using traditional genealogical research, the author identified 35 of the orphans and twelve of their NYC parents. Journeys of the Forgotten provides the biographies of each identified orphan after arrival"--.
