The author of the sacca-sankhepa was apparently not the famous Commentator and Tika-writer of Cofijevarag. The Commentator is referred to, in the Sasanavagsa,2 as acariya Dhammapala thero.' The Gandhavagsa also calls him Dham mapalacariyo.3 Our author is referred to, in the former work, as Dhammapala-thero,4 in the latter as culia - Dhammapala thero, senior pupil of Anandeicariya,5 author of the Mfilatika on Buddhaghosa's abhidhamma-pitaka Commentaries.
