Joshua Glover is about the drama inherent in the search for freedom and the fight against injustice. While the nation was being torn apart by slavery, Joshua escaped from his owner in search of the freedom he heard was available for blacks in the North. There he met the injustice of being arrested and thrown into jail simply because he had broken a federal law by escaping. However, the injustice done to Joshua was not lost upon the people of Racine, Wisconsin, where Joshua lived. One hundred of them came to Milwaukee and battered down the federal marshalas door and freed Joshua.
