Estas peças estão ligadas ao cabo como indica a figura, e nas forqui lhas entram argolas, em que terminam dois tios de ferro, presos a um disco furado collocado na parte inferior da bala. Com esta disposição, em quanto o systema está suspenso, as peças de forquilha conservam-se levantadas supportando a bala; porém logo que a haste AB toca no fundo, o peso da bala faz inverter a posição das peças de forquilha, fig. 2, e a bala torna - se livre.
