La ligne latérale est droite, et ne se marque que par une suite de petits traits allongés.
Dans la liqueur ce poisson paraît à présent brunâtre en dessus, et argenté sur les ?ancs. On observe sur les côtés, entre la dorsale et la pectorale, une tache noire de forme ovale.
Cette description est faite d'après un individu de 183 millimètres de longueur, caudale non comprise, envoyé du Cunene (angola) par M. Anchieta en 1873.
