Excerpt from Joint Report of the Executive Council and Officers to the Fifty-Third Annual Convention of the Massachusetts State Federation of Labor: August 1, 1938
As the extreme pressure of my national labor connections preclude the feasibility of my offering myself for further active service within the official family of the State Federation, I am truly proud and happy to climax my years of membership on the Executive Council and my leadership for the past four terms, with such a record for peace, ' progress and prosperity as is now the lot of our great State Federation.
Let me hasten to explain that such results were possible only by capital izing on the firm foundation left me by my honored predecessor, James T. Moriarty, the whole-hearted and spirited support and co-operation of all mem bers of the Executive Council, and the superfine and intelligent collaboration of two of Labor's most outstanding secretary-treasurer-legislative' Agents. Only such teamwork and the further confidence and support of our local lead ers throughout the Commonwealth could bring about such complete success.
That I may substantiate the glowing tributes that I deal out to our State Federation and its hard-hitting official family, let me hasten to produce the facts and figures.
