Proposition formulated and' submitted by Mr. Adolph Moses of the Chicago Bar and adopted by the Illinois State Bar Association, July 7, 1899. On February 4, 1801, John Marshall took his seat in the Supreme Court of the United States as the third Chief Justice, on a com mission signed by President J-ohn Adams, dated January 3lst, 1801.
