Publisher's Synopsis

Two centuries ago, the British painter John Constable became supreme in capturing the detailed complexity of skies. In 1820-22, he made a series of fifty paintings of skies, as seen from north London's Hampstead Heath. Author David Eagar chose Constable to be the pivotal character in this drama, which spans two centuries: then and now. The 'skying years' is the name the artist himself gave to those years. In the novel and the play, we follow him and two friends as they devise a weather game for children. In the second part, we are in the present day, in the world of television production, and a different kind of 'climate game' is devised! All six 'characters', who really lived their lives two centuries ago, return in essence for a tumultuously busy Midsummer Day.
