She started presenting the interview podcast Empty inside in 2020. She published a book in 2022 about her time as a child celebrity and her mother's abuse, who passed away in 2013. McCurdy, who co-starred with Miranda Cosgrove, Nathan Kress, and Jerry Trainor on the web series iCarly about a group of high school pals, was just 13 years old when she was cast in the lead role. McCurdy acknowledges that there was always a painful irony in the position, despite the fact that it gave her a level of notoriety and financial security that changed her life. While McCurdy battled with eating in her personal life, her character enjoyed turkey legs, fried chicken, and barbecue ribs often.
