Germain-jean Drouais war in Paris den 9 5. November 1763 geboren, und als Sohn eines Mahlers ward er von der frühesten Jugend an unter der Anleitung seines Vaters zur Kunst an gehalten Sein zweyter Meister war Herr Bre net, dess?n Schule er aber nachher aus eignem Antrieb verließ, um sich in die Schule des Herrn David's zu begeben, der eben damals von seinen Akademischen Jahren als Rom zurückgekommen.
