This text documents the threatened mammals, birds, amphibians and fish occurring in Ireland. The 68 threatened species include 14 mammals, 42 birds, 2 amphibians and 10 fish. The book also includes accounts of seven species which have become extinct in Ireland in the recent past.;For each listed species information is provided on history, current distribution and status, habitat, threats and conservation. Successful conservation of many species will only be achieved through the co-operative action of several groups of people including landowners, voluntary conservation groups and government departments. This book is aimed at these people as well as the wider public whose support is essential.
