This volume is an Investigation into Mr. Malone's Claim to the Character of Scholar or Critic, is an examination of his inquiries into the authenticity of the Shakespeare Manuscripts, by Ireland. It was written to refute the authenticity of certain miscellaneous papers attributed to William Shakespeare by Edmond Malone in 1796 which had destroyed all confidence in the 'Shakespearean' manuscripts forged by Ireland's son William Henry.
