Leaving school in 1939, Julie Halliwell is offered a post in an antiques shop, but she is far from enthusiastic as she wants to be an actress. Her ability to learn soon makes her indispensable to her boss and when war is announced Julie stays behind. Handsome Dutch antique dealer Maurice de Gruyt notices Julie, but her love life takes a back seat when the air raids worsen. Forced to rejoin her parents in Yorkshire, Julie's mind is never far from London, her job and Maurice, But will they still be there for her when it is safe to return...?
