Publisher's Synopsis
This CD-ROM is comprised of excerpts from the Power Electronics and Motor Drives video series. In this tutorial, the presenters provide an overview of power electronic circuits which includes rectifiers and inverters. Both current source and voltage source inverters are discussed as well as different pulse width modulation techniques. Dr David Torrey takes the viewer on a tour of the Renssalaer power electronics laboratory. He concludes with a discussion of space vector control. Dr Sheppard Salon concentrates on the production of mmf and torque in machines, with special emphasis on the fields in the machines and in the torque angle. Dr Salon also covers the production of torques in dc, synchronous and ac machines. He concludes with a discussion on harmonics in machines.;Dr Torrey returns for an introduction to field-oriented control where he develops equations for modelling a machine in the dq reference frame. This model is then used to implement the field-oriented control of an induction motor. Several possible schemes are discussed and compared. References and hard copies of the visuals are included with this CD-ROM course.
