This monograph, sponsored by the TMS Structure Materials Division, addresses one of the critical performance issues in composite materials systems - fracture resistance. The contributing papers focus on fracture mechanisms in a range of inorganic composite systems, including metal-matrix composites, intermetallic composites, intermetallic composites and ceramic-matrix composites.
