Publisher's Synopsis
This volume describes the kinetics and mechanisms of interpolymer reactions involving two incompatible polymers and two polymers between whose functional groups donor-acceptor reactions occur. These model reactions are used to demonstrate specific features of irreversible interpolymer reactions in solution and also in developing scientific principles for obtaining the completely soluble, readily processed hybrid polymers known as "interpolymers". The structure and properties of interpolymers as a new class of hybrid polymers are examined and the qualities distinguishing them from mechanical mixtures of homopolymers, statistical copolymers and the products of polymer-like transformations are outlined.
