Publisher's Synopsis
This publication presents the main reports of the XXIInd World Congress of the International Association of Logopedics and Phoniatrics, held in August 1992 in Hannover. The first of four extensive reports devoted to current issues in logopaedics, reviews the results of an international survey of 42 countries' education and training of logopaedists. This is followed by an encompassing look at child language disorders which also focuses on important developments such as computer-assisted language sample analyses and neurophysiology in understanding language impairment in children. The third report is dedicated to the pharmacological possibilities for the treatment of dysphonic voicing patterns and other voice disorders. Lastly, a comprehensive, clearly illustrated report on the microsurgical treatment of vocal fold lesions offers readers a practical guide to current techniques.
