Publisher's Synopsis
As the barriers to trade between EC member states have been reduced, other impediments to international economic activity may become more significant. One of these might be the differences that exist between the planning and related regulatory regimes of member states. There has already been comparative research into land-use planning systems, and the purpose of this study has been to look at other (ie. non land-use) planning systems and consents because these are also likely to be relevant to would-be developers.;This research examines the systems in France, Germany, the Netherlands and Spain, and compares these to similar systems in England and Wales. Particular attention is paid to time-scales involved and the ease with which developers can obtain the various consents needed.
