Publisher's Synopsis
This course integrates language and literature, and is designed especially for students in Ugandan secondary schools. It draws on current developments from the field of English as a second language and integrates the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. The text also teaches grammar in context, using a variety of texts, and involves students in an interactive way.;The 13 units of book three offer opportunity for students to explore written and listening passages and texts for speaking aloud (poetry, drama and role play). The texts are thematically integrated, as is the language work on structure, sounds and vocabulary. A particular feature of the course is the structured teaching of writing. This includes strictly controlled writing based on model paragraphs, and a step-by-step plan introducing students to the principles of expository writing and free creative writing.
