Publisher's Synopsis
The Instructor's Manual supports teaching with any of the two available versions of The Longman Writer: the regular edition (a rhetoric with readings, research, and handbook) and the Brief Edition (a rhetoric with readings and research).
The first section explains the authors' approach for introducing each pattern of development, offers suggestions for using the book to facilitate a process-driven course as well as a patterns-driven course, and includes advice on facilitating peer-review workshops and for responding to student papers.
The second section provides suggested answers to activities at the end of Writing Process chapters, but the strength of the Manual is third section, which offers teaching strategies and support for each Pattern of Development chapter in the book. The Manual works through prewriting and revising activities and suggests answers to Questions for Close Reading and Questions About the Writer's Craft after professional essays.
Answers are provided for exercises in the concise handbook at the end of the regular edition.
