This supplement sets out the new requirements and guidance for the inspection of school sixth forms in order to achieve results in line with the government's White Paper "Learning to Succeed: A New Framework for Post-16 Learning" (1999). This publication is intended for use in strengthening the inspection of school sixth forms to ensure as far as possible that they are evaluated in as much depth as other school provision. The book encompasses changes to the remit of OFSTED in 2001 to include the inspection of all 16-19 education, and fully describes the new framework under which arrangements for sixth form inspections are to be made. It contains information on the recent changes to post-16 qualifications and the detailed requirements for inspection and reporting of school sixth forms, and also gives advice on conducting enhanced full and short inspections, using the modified evaluation schedule, making a judgement on the adequacy of the sixth form and the structure of the inspection report.
