Appendix A, "Modern Economics as a Form of Magic." In this, I show how the assumptions of modern neoclassical economics assume a degree of omniscience that is similar to magic. Equilibrium is inherently an assertion of divine knowledge.
Appendix B, "Individualism, Holism, and Covenantalism." This is a discussion of the three approaches to methodology.
Appendix C, "Syncretism, Pluralism, and Empire." Each of the ancient empires had a pantheon of gods. Politics was supreme. Modern empires do not have physical idols, but they still subordinate religions to politics.
Appendix D, "The Demographics of American Judaism." This is a discussion of the declining birth rate among secular Jews and its implications.
Appendix E, "Free Market Capitalism." This is my original essay in the book, Wealth and Poverty: Four Christian Views of Economics. The 1984 book is online here for free at bit.ly/ClouseWAP
Appendix F, "The Economic Re-Education of Ronald J. Sider." This is a detailed review of 1997 edition of Sider's 1977 book, Rich Christians in an Age of Hunger. He abandoned many of his statist prescriptions and most of his Marxist rhetoric.
Appendix G, "Strong Drink." I discuss what the Bible says about booze.
Appendix H, "Week Reed: The Politics of Compromise." Here, I survey the supposedly Christian politics of Ralph Reed, the Enron advisor and associate of convicted criminal lobbyist Jack Abramoff.
Appendix I, "Eschatology, Law, and Pietism." How Christians' view the future shapes their views of activism.
Appendix J, "Categories of the Mosaic Law." These are land laws, seed laws, priestly laws, and cross-boundary laws. Only the last category is still operational.
