Dayuzhang irrigation area irrigated by the Yellow River is large-scale, built earlier and well-known in China. It is one of the 156 key projects in China's first five-year plan with the participation of Soviet experts and occupies a very important position in the history of Yellow River Irrigation. The irrigation area was built in 1956. After the completion of the diverting the Yellow River to Qingdao project in Shandong Province in 1989, the irrigation area has changed from mainly serving agricultural irrigation to serving agricultural irrigation, oilfield production, urban water supply and other multi-directional services.
