Indian statistics have, indeed, been dealt with so ably, and have been presented to the public in such attractive form by the late -sir W. W. Hunter in his Imperial Gazetteer Of India, that for more exact statistical details and figures than those contained in this brief volume the reader is referred to that great authority.
