The inclusion in the Supplement of several names of Canadians, both living and dead, who are not of the very first importance, and the omis sion of others who filled at least as important a place in the history of the country, will be explained largely by the fact that the former were incidentally mentioned somewhere in the series, and therefore had to be included, while the latter were not.
