When it was completed, the writer was requested by the R. 1. Veteran Citizen Association to read it before them at one of their stated meetings. This request he complied with, first adding the two introductory paragraphs to adapt it to the occasion. This association also requested a copy for publica tion in their organ, the Narragansett Historical Register. It is here reprinted in the same form in which it appeared in that magazine.
