Excerpt from Inaugural Lecture Read Before the University of Oxford: In the Divinity School on Thursday, March 17th, 1836
Had I then rested the question of under taking the office simply on the answer which I could give to the inquiry, Who is sufh cient for these things, I should not have had the presumption to present myself before you, as, on this day, commencing the arduous duties of the office by an inaugural address to the members at large of the University.
