Publisher's Synopsis
The small village of Northern Trail is one where not much happens, and Lily Brightwood likes it that way. But when she discovers she has the ability to mindweave her best friend Kira encourages her to travel to the distant city of Zivatta to enter one of the many mindweaving competitions. At first, Lily is reluctant to leave her safe, comfortable life, but the arrival of the Thunderclaw Mercenaries gives her no choice. She must flee or watch Kira be taken as tribute.
Zivatta is everything Lily had feared it would be and worse. It's loud and crowded and filled with dangers Lily has never considered, but Lily's desire to enter the competition helps Lily overcome her trepidation. With the help of new friends, Lily learns to hone her mindweaving skills and face her fear of the unknown.
