Perhaps a first of its kind In the Hands of Design Minds Volumes I & II is a two volume book that ambitiously bridges the many islands of design, science and technology in scope and question in the impact they have upon our world and its future. This first volume examines the philosophies and applications of design, innovation and creativity throughout education and industry while further using a theme of transition to explore and understand the movement process from student to professional in the case of design and creative individuals. This work also endeavors also to take into account and explore the wider educational and vocational spectrum in questioning traditional university learning structures as compared to the potentials of long distance, self paced learning an further propositions for mulitdisciplinary education and vocation potentials, while acknowledging the relevance of lifelong learning throughout both personal and professional environments and livelihood. The framework of existing conditions regarding both environments are extensively examined through a body of international case studies, with a further aim of exploring the broader context of institutional relations and performances in preparation for the greater 'macro' economic context in the applications of design, innovation and creativity of volume II.
