Publisher's Synopsis
This is a whimsical tale concerning the frantic search for a renegade Footman who `hoofed` it from the service of his employer: Lord Algernon Chevenning, taking with him His Lordship`s wife, all his Credit cards and the deeds to his Business Empire. Lord Chevennning, desperate to reclaim all that, by birth-right was rightfully his, embarks on an erratic odyssey across London where he encounters an eccentrically, curious array of characters who either add or distract him from the reason for his pursuit. Everything goes topsy-turvy and his life and journey seem to evolve into a stupefying mixture of: the absurd, the ridiculous and the insane, highlighted the moment that he comes into contact with one, Georgina Custer, who attaches herself to him, to act as his guide, like Dante`s Virgil through Hell and Purgatory and then as his Beatrice into Heaven. Uncannily aware of all the pitfalls the Footman had laid for him she steers him on into nothing more than `neverland`. But Algernon is determined and, with the darkening cloud of penury looming over him, he pulls out all the stops and pushes on and eventually, with the cloaked assistance of Custer, is reunited with his wife, all his money and the vital deeds of his Business Empire, but he never does find that elusive Footman who, it transpires, due to his artistic skills, is more- wealthy than he will ever be, even if he does have a club-foot.
