IF there is any value in what I write it is because I have known Florence from a point of view rare for a stranger. The life that has interested me has not been that lived in the beautiful villas on the hills an incomplete, cosmopolitan life such as any of the large hotels in the world can show - but I have been privileged to know something of the working people, and it is of these, chie?y, that I have written.
