Publisher's Synopsis
The United States government has a responsibility to protect the health of its citizens, including refugees. The government must address the cultural beliefs and practices of older adult refugees from Afghanistan regarding immunizations. This includes understanding how the refugees view vaccines, their concerns about the safety of vaccines, and their religious or cultural beliefs about immunizations. This paper addresses the necessity of immunizing older adult refugees from Afghanistan in response to the humanitarian crisis of war in 2021 against Taliban. With coordination between community stakeholders, older adult refugees are provided education and housing assistance, transportation, employment, and healthcare services, including government required immunizations.
