There is a lot of advice out there on selecting and implementing ERP systems, but almost none of it is aimed at smaller companies that can have limitations of resource and of money. Most is targeted at the larger companies, the ones that can afford expensive and even multi-million dollar projects, and not at the thousands of smaller companies that actually make up the majority of what happens in the real world. There will always be companies such as Ford, Airbus and Johnson & Johnson but, for each one of those, there are thousands of smaller companies that are vital to the World's economy. If those smaller companies are to grow, flourish and achieve their full potential, they need systems that are effective, efficient and affordable.
This book discusses the challenges that smaller companies can have when selecting and implementing ERP systems and at how the problems they face can be overcome or, at least, mitigated. It doesn't try to turn readers into ERP experts but it does try to give busy executives a good understanding of what ERP can do, and what is necessary to make it work. And it tries to do it in a book that is detailed enough to do those things well, whilst being short enough that people actually have time to read it. Having read this book, you might not know all the answers; but you will certainly know all of the questions to ask!
