Publisher's Synopsis
This book illustrates selected images that exemplify energy exchanges and processes that affect changes on the planet's surface and near surface. Brief explanations are given where appropriate, however, detailed discussions addressing the science involved in explaining geomorphic processes is beyond the scope of this book. Several references addressing the science of geomorphology, remote sensing, geographic information systems, and meteorology are listed in the References section at the end of the book. Earth features are shown in grey tones in this volume to illuminate brightness, tone, and contrast without enabling color to dominate the appearance of natural features. There is simplicity in panchromatic (gray tone) photography that speaks to an intense focus isolated on the thematic content within an image. By isolating the tones to grey levels, texture, geometry, static, and dynamic movement become the principal subject.
