On my return to this, my native city, I resolved to pursue with ardour an inquiry for which I had imbibed so strong an interest. But facilities are not always at our command; and before I was able to realise them, several years had already elapsed. At length, in 1829, I received the appointment of physician to the Phila delphia Almshouse Hospital.
